OFFICIAL SELECTION IN NEW YORK
Grace has been nominated to the Official Selection for the 2014 Winter Film Awards.
What a grand opportunity this would be. And I really do love New York. I’ve been to the city several times and believe me, an invitation like this warrants some serious consideration. There will be three days of screenings beginning February 27th then the awards event will take place on Saturday March 1st. One minor complication is that I’ve been planning to attend the Richmond International Film Festival in Virginia which also runs that week. The gala in Richmond is on March 2nd. According to Google maps, the two cities are only 330 miles apart. It’s a cinch to drive five and a half hours, right? Maybe there’s a train…Why can’t I be two people at the same time?
Quoting from The Winter Film Awards webpage, the “WAF focuses on the diversity of independent film, and offers an exciting mixture of film genres, viewpoints and subjects in order to give attendees the opportunity to see films they might never think to seek out! This year’s selection includes 61 films from 24 countries, a mixture of narrative features, horror, animation, music videos, comedies, documentaries and shorts covering the full range of the world of independent film.”
The 3rd annual festival includes screenings, discussion panels and networking parties at venues including the Gray Line New York Theater on 8th Avenue. The ultimate event will be the Award Show itself which will be held on Saturday night at 230 FIFTH. This is regarded as New York’s “largest Rooftop Garden and fully enclosed Penthouse Lounge.” The view from the club’s roof-top of the New York skyline is apparently breathtaking.
